My name is Robert Kelchen and I am a professor and head of the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. I am interested in higher education policy, particularly accountability policy, higher education finance, and student financial aid. I always appreciate possible suggestions for blog topics and am open to pitches from up-and-coming researchers about potential blog posts.

  1. Robert, your blog on How much do for-profit colleges rely on federal funds? is excellent. I was very pleased to see how you wove one issue (high dependency on fed funding) with another (lack of corporate support of education) in an insightful and helpful manner.

  2. Your article about the popularity of the IRS DRT starts out saying the 1617 year, but this is incorrect. You should have referenced the 1718 year, which is the first year prior prior year began on this past Oct 1st.

    1. Thanks for the note. I added a mention that the applications are for the 2017-18 year (even if they’re mostly done during 2016-17) to the first paragraph.
